Sri Ayodhya Dham Yatra
A seven-day pilgrimage to Ayodhya, the birthplace of Lord Ram. Early morning darshan at the Ram Mandir, the temples of the old city, the evening aarti on the banks of the Saryu, and daily meditation and discourses on the Ramayana.
Overview
Ayodhya, on the banks of the Saryu in Uttar Pradesh, is revered as the birthplace of Lord Ram and one of the seven sacred cities of Hindu tradition. Since the consecration of the new Ram Mandir the city has drawn pilgrims from across India and beyond.
This is a structured seven-day yatra rather than a sightseeing trip. Mornings begin with aarti and darshan, the days move through the temples of the old city and the ghats of the Saryu, and the evenings are given to discourses on the Ramayana, classical music and quiet reflection. We arrange the hotels, the vegetarian meals, the local transport and a guide who can explain the significance of each site, not only its history.
The itinerary can be shortened to five days, combined with Kashi and Prayagraj, or joined to Janakpur across the border in Nepal so the journey follows the Ramayana in the order the story happened.
- Ram Mandir
- Hanuman Garhi
- Saryu Ghat
Indian and Nepali citizens travel without a visa; carry photo identification. Travellers of other nationalities need an Indian visa arranged before departure, so tell us your passport country when you enquire. Ram Mandir darshan timings and security rules change at short notice, especially around festivals, so the final day plan is confirmed close to departure. This is a devotional programme: pure vegetarian food and abstinence from intoxicants are expected for its duration, and photography is restricted inside the temples.
